Established in 1994 by Edwin Faeh, Carhartt Work In Progress (WIP) develops its own collections based on original Carhartt workwear. The brand combines authentic adaptations of these robust American archetypes, while engaging with the subcultures that have embraced it. This, in turn, has seen Carhartt WIP place itself in a new context and bring forth its own classics. The Spring/Summer 2021 collection has a uniquely utilitarian sensibility, as garments are created to respond to and anticipate the needs of the wearer – both now and in the future. That this sentence could apply to any Carhartt WIP collection from the last three decades does not, however, indicate a state of stasis, rather one of constant evolution, as the brand continues to explore different forms of functional clothing.
