Carhartt WIP x Forty Percent Against Rights
For Fall/Winter 2019, Carhartt WIP has teamed up with FORTY PERCENT AGAINST RIGHTS (FPAR). The resultant capsule collection sees the Tokyo-based brand rework a selection of Carhartt WIP classics.
Originally launched in the 1990s as a personal project by Tetsu Nishiyama (also known for his label WTAPS), FPAR’s medium has traditionally been T-shirts. Initially known for its analogue, collaged creations and subversive sloganeering, in recent years the brand has also grown beyond simple graphic tees, creating its own apparel and working with like-minded collaborators.
For this capsule collection, Nishiyama sought to reflect the stylistic nuances of the brand’s early days in Tokyo – a period during which Carhartt WIP’s utilitarian silhouettes were becoming increasingly prominent on the streets of Harajuku. Coupled with the designer’s own obsessive research into vintage clothing – in particular Carhartt pieces – Nishiyama’s reworkings of iconic Carhartt WIP styles marries his own personal interests with the backstories of the two respective brands.

The collection includes an OG Active Jacket, created in traditional Dearborn Canvas and an 11.5oz stone washed denim, complete with a faux-fur hood lining, as well as two short-sleeve pocket T-shirts, a grosgrain-taped Single Knee work pant, a canvas cap, and beanie. Each product also bears an exclusive co-branded woven label that reads “Guerilla: The Incubation Period,” positioned alongside Carhartt WIP’s original embroidered ‘C’ logo.
