F/W21: Venture

Carhartt WIP’s latest editorial, titled Venture, explores the outdoor-inspired elements within the brand’s Fall/Winter 2021 men’s and women’s collections.

The garments featured take inspiration from the more leisure-focused side of the brand’s heritage, incorporating elements of hunting, climbing, and the great outdoors. A 1940s air force survival vest serves as the starting point for several of the more technical items featured, with 3D darted pockets and reverse coil zips appearing on outerwear, vests, and accessories.

There’s also a twist on a traditional check flannel, applied instead to a corduroy base. The inclusion of a shaggy fleece bearing a scenic outdoor print, meanwhile, playfully elevates the piece beyond its kitsch origins.

Shot by Tokyo-based photographer Genki Nishikawa, the images combine off-road vehicles and styles with a sense of understated functionality. This editorial was created in collaboration with Japanese imprint Silver Magazine.
